DRAGONS, SONGS AND BILLABONGS

Primary School Show

Born and raised in Australia, Chinese-Australian musician Benji Miu grew up in two cultures. His show explores multiculturalism in contemporary Australia through an interactive, STEAM-based music experience.

Through songs, storytelling, and crowd participation, Benji takes audiences on a journey of identity and connection while “stretching the soul across the horizon” between the Australian landscape and the ancestral rhythms of Southern China.

At the heart of the performance, the ancient Chinese lute known as the ‘ruan’. Combined with a phenomenal music technology known as the Magic Headphones, this transforms audience members into live, touch-activated music machines as part of an unforgettable on-stage experience.

Infused with Auslan and a hint of classic Aussie rock, the show moves between music, STEAM, tradition, and innovation; a show equally rooted in Chinese heritage and Australian culture.

With a strong message of hope and belonging, Dragons, Songs and Billabongs is suitable not only for Harmony Week, but every week as we celebrate and share each others’ stories and songs across our great Southern Land.
